Those with diagnosed iron deficiency or iron-deficiency anaemia that hasn't improved with oral supplements.
-
Pregnant women who need to increase their iron levels quickly for both maternal and fetal health.

People undergoing surgery or other medical treatments that may lead to a higher demand for iron.
-
Individuals who struggle with the side effects of oral iron, such as gastrointestinal discomfort.
What’s Involved in the Procedure?
An iron infusion is a straightforward and relatively quick procedure that takes place in our clinic under the supervision of Dr. Briggs.
-
Consultation and Assessment: Dr. Briggs will begin with an initial consultation, reviewing your medical history and blood test results to determine if an iron infusion is the most appropriate treatment.
-
Preparation: During the infusion, an IV (intravenous) line will be inserted into your arm, and the iron solution will be administered slowly into your bloodstream. The procedure typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the type of iron preparation used.
-
Monitoring: You will be closely monitored during the infusion for any signs of adverse reactions, which are rare but possible. Most patients tolerate the procedure well.
-
Post-Infusion Care: After the infusion, you'll be advised to rest briefly before leaving the clinic. Dr. Briggs may recommend follow-up blood tests to monitor your iron levels and assess your response to the treatment.

An iron infusion is an effective way to rapidly restore iron levels and improve symptoms like fatigue, weakness, and shortness of breath, allowing patients to feel better and more energised.
